Not implying you're color blind, it's just that from inside the car it's sometimes difficult to tell. White smoke would more than likely be condensate inside the exhaust system steaming off.
White, colorless, quick dissipating, evaporating "smoke" is as Stogey says more than likely steam/condensate. Black smoke is either a diesel or a TOO RICH gas to air mixture. Bluish smoke is usally an oil induced smoke. Continuous blue smoke especially when accelerating can be a sign of worn rings. Slight issue of blue smoke when starting can indeed be the valve stem seals causing a small abount of oil to seep past the seals onto the pistons while shut down, and is immediately burned off at fire up. If (I hope not) this happens again, have a friend start the car while you are behind it. You'll smell if it is oil. A sulphur-rotton eggy smell will probably be the Cat converter which is normal. DON'T BAG AND SNIFF!!
