One thing to consider: Did the pump allow any metal to contaminate the fluid? If so you will need to flush the system. I have installed inline filters in the return line to catch any particles that may be floating in the fluid. That is mostly on Rack and Pinion where you get a lot of aluminum in the fluid. But you still need to check and/or flush.

Not flushing the bad fluid out could cause pump failure again or even premature wear on the box.
