If its the amp thats causing the problem, Then when i change the headunit to a new one will this problem still persist.

Mine is an 2003 model so i dont think it will still be under warrenty.
Yeah, I got lucky - I bought a 2004 with 5000 miles on it before the 3-year period had lapsed and detected the problem right away.
Yes the problem will remain if it's the amp in the floor.
I have been in here several times and skip steps 2 and 3 (removing kick panel and door sill - not really necessary if you carefully coax carpet out from behind kick panel and door sill, which both are flexible enough to ease away from carpet as you do so.
You may be able to get a working amp from some one on here who went with a completely aftermarket system and does not use their factory amp.
I have seen them on eBay often.
The amp is under the kick panel on the passenger side - the part of the floor that slopes up to the underside of the dash.
