Default Re: Did I get a good Deal?

Thanks All, Looks like the last calc I did was averaging out about 16-17 mpg. I was hoping for more. This is actually my first manual trans vehicle so I think its the learning curve on my part for the mpg im getting. How is that for falling for the car? I saw it, fell in love with it, but couldnt drive it. I figured that if I could ride my sportster then how hard could it be? Im about 1 month into getting use to the crossfire, so hopefully my mpg will improve. Stupid question: I generally wait till I reach 3,000 to 4,000 rpm's before I shift during normal driving, is this to much? I also like the feel of when I gun it and waiting to shift till about 5,000 rpm's only because it seems to have more torque at that rate. am I putting more stress on the transmission than I should be? or should I just watch to make sure I dont redline when I wear my lead foot?
