Default Exhaust Install Troubles...

So I went to a local shop to install my new exhaust system this past weekend and it was basically a nightmare! I had such high hopes for this and it was all for nothing! I thought I did all my homework in the measuring department, etc...... A little while ago, I had purchased 240M3SRT's BDJ custom 3 inch stainless catback (Just the piping). I then purchased a hooker aero chamber muffler (yes, the secret is out! lol) and the 5 inch chrome borla tips. After the guy looked it over and after I told him I don't want the exhaust sticking out past the bumper, he told me it would be sticking out about 1.5 to 2 inches past! I didn't know what to do so I told him to make it as short as possible and hopefully it would come out decent. They do not work/bend 3 inch stainless so modifying it was out of the question...... So he gets all the old exhaust off (which took him 45 min, it was being stubborn) and tries to get the old gasket off to re-use. Well, needless to say, the gasket is basically welded in there and we couldn't get it out without damaging it. I call all around and the closest one is in Virginia! At this point our only option was to put the old exhaust back on and come back. I spen't all morning there and nothing got accomplished. The good news, he was cool and didn't charge me anything. So.........onward. I have a couple of questions.

1. Should I go back to this place or should I get a second opinion on the length issue?
2. What tips are available that are shorter than the borlas and are 2.5 inch inlets? Basically, I need VERY short tips!!
3. Should I sell everything and wait for the custom dual setup?
4. Any other input?

Thanks guys!
