I was the same way when I had my RX-7 Convertible. I had the top up MORE when it was mid Afternoon and Hot in the summer. I ran the top down all year. the Heater in that thing was so good, I could drive with the top down at night with temps below freezing and was fine as long as I had a hat... I love the top down when it's cool/cold.
