Crossfire 6 speed manual. 6400 miles.

I have read much about the transmission shifting issues. My specific problem is that on many occassions, I simply can't shift directly into 1st gear from a stopped position. I must do the 2>1, 3>1, etc. to engage the 1st gear. No problem after 1st gear.

I have contacted the dealer and have an appointment for inspection and "repair".

How serious is this? Will it get worse? What's the permanent fix?
Is this a Benz transmission? If yes, does the SLK have similar problems?
A lot of questions.....please help!

I would like to know my options before I walk into the dealer.
