Re: Gauge issue!!
The company in question is us JR-Industries. Where do we start? Let start with the word integrity, or truthfulness, if we are going to have a complaint from another company towards another company why not throw all the cards on the table. Lets us start at the beginning. A customer of ours ordered a triple pillar and 3 sets of matching SRT6 gauges through us. Without all the details we can just stick to the facts. We delivered on our products and I referred him to TVT. The products were sent were in brand new condition never opened, never installed. The process which we go through to make these gauges is like everyone knows cut them open put the CNC overlay in and then glue them back together. Does the epoxy/ Jb weld hold? The answer is yes we cut them apart make a channel and then epoxy and jb weld them back together. There are no other options for customers who want a product to match their dash at the cheapest price possible. We have looked into buying complete canisters and new bezels, it comes with a minimum price tag of $5000 and or 4000 orders. We have sold a total of 7 gauge sets to members or roughly 21- 18 gauges a far cry from 4000. The process has changed we now try and take appart the bezel, does not look as clean but insures this will not happen again.
Members have to realize we are not a company that is out to make mass amounts of money off of a select group of car, the CROSSFIRE, we are out to make essentially handmade parts that boast quality and look good. NO OTHER COMPANY HAS DARED TO MAKE such products because of SUCH A TINY CROWD, these are not HONDAS. We did this and started this with the sole intention of making these products because these are the products we ourselves wanted.
With that being said yes one of the 20 crossfire gauges we sold broke in half. Is this bound to happen of course, we are not pointing fingers we instead take full responsibility for a faulty product on our part. Once this was brought to our attention me and Rudy made sure to stress every gauges as much as we possibly could to insure something like this wouldn’t happen to another customer.
It begins with me getting a call from Anthony stating that the install did not go as well as planned.
1) The pillar had trouble fitting the gauges do to the use of a dermal to sand 1/16 of an inch and not sanded by hand!
2) The oil pressure gauge fell apart.
3) There was nowhere for him to mount the oil sending unit “due to its size”, so he was going to order the customer another one that was smaller.
4) The customer was not happy that there was an extra charge to fit the gauges into the pillar.
After hearing this conversation I was under the understanding that we were going to receive the oil set up back REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE and go on about our business.
Later in the week I was informed that we were going to be getting all 3 gauges back and Antony sold our customer a set of HIS gauges.
No harm no foul I thought. Our mistake with the broken gauge we will receive the two gauges that are still almost brand new and functional, glue back together the oil pressure gauge, and give a deal to the next customer who is looking to order gauges from us at a discounted price explaining what had happened.
Well I received that gauges on Sat seeing as I had to be home to sign for them which is almost impossible for those that have a job or are taking college classes. Once I received them I placed a call to Rudy explaining the carnage that had happened, he explained that we will need to think this over and respond as professional as possible. He needed to see the gauges first hand before we jump on anything. The first day we were able to meet with our schedules was last night WED.
We talked over what we had on our hands which includes…….
1) Gauges THAT ARE NOT IN THE ORGINAL BOXES with another GAUGE companies HARDWARE.
2) HARDWARE MISSING FROM THE ORGINAL GAUGES THAT IS A NESSICITY FOR THE GAUGES TO FUNCTION PROPERLY
3) GLUED AND ELECTRICAL TAPED TOGETHER OIL PRESSURE GAUGE
4) SUPPER GLUE ON THE INSIDE OF THE GAUGE LENSE THAT was told to the customer WAS SCRATCHES WHEN IT IS CLEARLY GLUE THAT DRIPPED ON THERE AND WAS TRIED TO BE SRACTCHED OFF.
5) A BROKEN COLOR BUTTON PIECE THAT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS TRIED TO BE GULED ON WHEN IT MEARLY IS PRESSURE FITTED
6) A COLOR CHANGING BUTTON PIECE THAT MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN STUCK BECAUSE OF THE GAUGE BEING TWEAKED SO WAS TRIED TO FIX BY PULLING ON IT WITH A NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS.
7) OIL ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF THE OIL PRESSURE BOX AND GAUGE FROM A OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT LEAKING EXCESS OIL THAT WE WERE TOLD WAS NEVER INSTALLED DO TO IT’S SIZE]
Needless to say I was speechless when I open the packages. Bottom like we are disappointed in Antony for calling us after the fact about the issues and taking it upon himself to "fix" the gauge. When we did receive the call it was how disappointed the customer was in us and our product for the extra money it cost to fit the gauges.
(The customer was told the gauges would be fitted before a consensus among members who voiced their opinions to me said they would like to do it themselves.)
We use a dermal to cut out the back which cannot be seen but does not look as clean, so we stopped doing just that)
In this sense I many have dropped the ball saying it was going to be done and not having it done after hearing TVT was in fact going to do the install. My reasoning was this takes us 20- 30 min tops in the shop something I wouldn’t think a “reputable company” like tvt would struggle with. I was told by Anthony it took him 2 hours to fit the gauges, 2 days for an install and a total bill costing much more than what we charge ($300 plus supplies). I could clearly understand why the customer was mad.
Now that the integrity of both companies is in question I’m glad you yourself were the one to bring this into the open and not continue to fix the problem behind the sense, which I think we can all agree is the right thing for two companies to do.
A refund will be issued to our customer for the BOOST gauge (which is useless without the proper hardware we never received) and a Volt gauge. No refund will be issued for the OIL pressure gauge on the lines that are stated by rudy. HE forgot to mention the TV would be returned without the cord, or remote
Im am sorry for being so brash, I am sorry this is now in the open to our customer, and sorry to all the other customers who were able to install these themselves without ever having a problem. IF this such situation continues to prosiest and we continue to get a back lash from the community, this hobby business of our may go back to what it was making products that we wanted for ourselves. I feel like we have been extremely fair and understanding, we have gone out of our way many times to make customers feel appreciated and do what is right regardless what it cost us. We have never gouged nor taken advantage of anyone and we are very proud of that. But, the line has to be drawn somewhere, we can only continue to lose so much money always trying to do the right thing and get crapped on in the process. This is our second customer that has had complications with an install through TVT and it is enough to learn our lesson and not make referrals anymore.
Antony you bringing this to the open and mockery of this says enough about your character. The 4 post following yours happend to be asking about us. That shows you have made it pretty clear. THis is all the more I will reply on this matter.
