Default Re: Formula 1 Racing

Hamilton has too much a "go for it all" mentality when he doesn't need it. What the heck was that move at Turn 1 on the opening lap??? He went into that race needing nothing more than keeping Massa in his sights even if Massa finished ahead of him. So with Massa several places behind him on the grid he did not need to regain position by outbreaking everyone at Turn 1. Heck, if Massa hadn't bumped him later on, Hamilton was still going to be dealt that drive through for his actions at Turn 1 and that alone could be enough to screw his championship.

As far as China goes, I put last year down to his team having that same crazy all-or-nothing attitude for each race. They left Hamilton out far, far too long on those tires. He was lapping almost 7 seconds a lap slower than everyone else in changing conditions. Why would you prolong that? Why would you ask a driver (especially a rookie) to stay out in the rain with cords showing through the tire? Yes, he may have stuffed it on pit lane, but the fact he even made it to pit lane to begin with is a small miracle.

As for the penalties handed out in Japan - I think they all were wrong. Everything looked to me to be nothing more than racing incidents. Let these guys race for goodness sake! There's a championship at stake, these guys are paid millions of dollars a year, and they should be allowed to race!

I'm still rooting for Massa, but unless Hamilton & McLaren blow it again this year, he'll have a tough time winning the title. And again, due to the pit problems Ferrari has been having, it will be primarily the team's fault if Massa doesn't win it all, not his. Just like Hamilton last year.

Then again, it would just awesome for Kubica to sneak up from behind and grab all the glory at the last race. I'd enjoy seeing that.
