Default Fun night at the track

Wow! I just got home from the last "grudge night" for the season at the local track. There were a ton of people out, as temps were dropping into the low 40's and the humidity wasn't too bad at around 50%. It was good racin weather. I had hoped to break this season's personal record of 12.76 but I couldn't do it. All the extra power I was making went straight to spinning my tires. I _REALLY_ need to get some ET Streets for next season.

The really fun part of the evening was the responses I was getting from my car. I usually do Test and Tune, but I decided to bracket race tonight. That means that I had my dial time posted on my windshield. Guys would see it and do a double-take. Then they would walk over to the car, look under the hood and scratch their heads. Then they'd ask "so what have you done to it?" When I told them that all it had was a cold air intake and a smaller SC pulley, they always reacted the same: shocked. They'd say things like "no way!" or "Damn, that's fast for a mostly stock car." Another guy called over all his friends to see it and tell them it "only" had a pulley and a CAI.

I was racing in the street legal category, which staged next to "no box" which are the guys with the slicks and completely removed interiors and such - serious racers. They were coming over and asking if I was serious about my dial time. Several times a guy would look as say "that's faster than mine and yours is street legal!!"

The SRT got a lot of attention tonight. Even though I raced like crap, it was a lot of fun.
