THe gap from the driven and driving plates should be parallel. WD40 can cause the clutch to slip and cause a glazed surface, spray it off with carburator cleaner "in a can" to wash it with a catch rag under it
If yours is wobbly pull it and return for evaluation and or replacement as you dont wanna stress the S/C input shaft. Use the washed stocker till its straight, dont want issues.
