Re: Upgraded IC?
I am getting into this a bit late, but the H/E I worked up was to assist the IAT by providing additional water flow at a much lower temperature. It is very big for the job and thats because I am tinkering with post intercooler cooling. Last nite I was enjoying a phone conversation with a LONG TIME racer AMX1397 who is gonna eclipse all of us, guess what...he is looking at going post I/C cooler also but thats another story.
I would like to hear from others including Dr. Brian regarding the existing I/C. We have all noticed the oil vapor getting into the intake and my question is this: Has anyone undertaken the task of washing or spraying the I/C to clean it of oil? It would seem that the oil film would act as an insulator to heat transfer between the air and water circuits.
I have thought that spraying fluid such as water, alcohol, or window washer fluid while the car is run. The thought of having to tear the I/C out seems like too much work. Your ideas please.
For the H/E and the dual inlet Cold Air Inlet, and a new high flow (low restriction ) Vapor separator to eliminate the above concerns; they are planned to be on the market soon. Rob of Needswings has been tolerating my antics and listening to my thoughts on these items and is planning to release them when perfected to his high standards. ( Remember the felt on the horn bracket with his CAI kit...a detail kind of guy). I get to play in the sand box while he has to do this stuff as his job.
Vapor separator photos as a teaser for your christmas list....
Low restriction and easy drain features
Enjoy Woody
