Default Re: Cutting Springs??

i personally would rather cut springs if possible so i can get the amount of drop i want. i have bought replacement drop springs before like eibach and they did not perform well it was a 1998 chrysler sebring coupe it rode like a horse drawn buggy but on the particular car i could not cut the spring they were too skinny and close together on my current car crossfire srt6 coupe i decided to cut the springs for a lot of different reasons they are not proggressive the car already rides stiff the springs are the same form top to bottom and i did'nt want alot of drop just about an inch in front and a needed inch and a half in the back so i cut a half coil off the front and a little over a half in the back cut the bumpstops did not change the shocks in my opinion they work great but everything turned out extremely well so i dont think its the fact that cut springs are bad i think it just depends on the car so lets compare the sebring bought springs terrible ride too much drop cost about $250 crossfire perfect drop rides and handles great cost $0 and also on a side note whether you buy springs or cut them proper alignment is a pain either way.......and by the way if you cut springs it doesnt mean you don't know what your doing or your to cheap to buy springs maybe it means the people that buy them dont know what there doing and like giving money away for something you can do yourself with the proper knowledge and guidence this forum and the people on it gives...........
