personally i dont know anyone who claims to be "very" religous and are "horrible examples of humanity"(pretty harsh words, but i like it). I do know people who claim to be christians that aren't religous, but absolutely none who say they are very religous and arent good people. I would say that most people I know that are horrible examples of humanity are ones that don't claim to be religous. By the way your arguments are sorta repetitive with the rhetoric of people who attempt to find fault in religion (fighting a code of morals and ethics is weird to me, even though i completely do not associate with religion).
Back on topic, here's an idea..... why not take the proposed- in california at least- 5 billion dollars we are planning on investing in stem cell research ( as per last monday's, i believe, l.a. times) and invest it in education. Honestly, im 21 and am already getting tired of seeing money go to wars and social security and whatever other crap it goes to (What is the obsession with helping the elderly anyway?), and watching the condition of school detriorate, the student to faculty rate increase, the availability of books decrease, the gap between quality education for the rich and poor increase (while we promote education because of te outsourcing of jobs). Why don't people ever want to invest in children? When someone does, they call them a leftist and make them sound crazy......crazy times.
