I've been doing some reading here as a newer SRT-6 owner (bought my '05 in July '08 with 98 miles on it, never been titled ... I totally stepped in something to find the car, and am glad that I did). It is my daily driver, and what an amazing car it is, as many of you know.
OK ... so I thought my first post should be a good high-speed story:
About 2 months ago now, on my way to work from NJ to PA on Interstate 78, some tractor trailer decided to cross the Eastbound median and head back Westbound. He totally cut off all traffic to a halt, so when I got the chance to get around him, I went downshifted via manu-matic mode and stepped on it a bit. Low and behold, when I looked in my rearview mirror, I saw a red Ford GT behind me (which I had seen once before on this same route). With NO ONE in front of me (since the truck stopped traffic and the traffic ahead was all clear), I let the car rip. Yeah, I know the stats of the Ford GT, and know I was easily out-accellerated, out-handled, and not close to his top speed, but the point was to just have fun. SO, the GT stayed with me ... 80 ... 100 ... 120 ... 140 ... WOW, what fun .... once I hit 150, traffic came on REAL fast, so we both backed down.
Once he got to the side of me, I threw a peace-sign as he gave a thumbs-up ... THAT is what having fast cars is about ... comradery, not who-can-outdo who. Though I typically keep my fast driving at the track, this was truly an opportunity not to be missed, and fortunately the PA State Trooper that is sometimes at that 78/33 interchange was not there that day! >
I'm looking forward to lots of great information here, and losing my stock performance trim very soon.
