If I was in your shoes, I would say "Since you aren't sure what could cause it, please find out what is, and I will take it up with my insurance company." If another part went bad under their custody, as they claim, they should replace it. Ask them to use that knowledge to figure it out . If they can't find out what is causing the problem they are so willing to wash their hands of, they should pay for an estimate to prove it's something unrelated to the accident to prove their innocence.

I have a legal and electrical (RADAR) engineering background. One of my pet peeves is when shops try to blame their electrical system ignorance on electrical gremlins. They messed it up, I have no questions in my mind.

I may engineer radar systems, but I'm a mechanical dummy, so this recommendation may deserve ridicule: Have them check your brakes in the repair area.
