I have long believed that managers at auto repair facilities have to pass a special course, this course teaches you how to lie to a customer in the most believable manner. The object is to make the customer believe that their vehicle needs something done or if it is still in warranty that whatever the complaint, it is normal.
I once heard a service manager convince a woman that the horrendous noise coming from the overhead camshaft of her car, which was still under warranty, was `quite normal for these cars'. Her reply was that her husband would be in later in the week to buy another new car for himself.
I guess he had passed with flying colors.
