I have had an intermittent "rattle" from the passenger sub that sounds like a blown speaker. Both occurrences were on the way to work. Once with no passenger and once with passenger so I doubt the seat was causing the rattle but didn't have time to investigate. Both times the noise was gone when I next drove the car.

Try turning the bass up to +9, and listen to the sub with the volume **** at a moderate level. If the sub is blown, you will have no doubt about it then. It will sound horrible.
Sometimes the voice coil (the wire at the base of the cone that the electical current goes through to make the cone move) gets just a little burnt, and the subwoofer won't be completely "blown", but will still sound a bit distorted. That may be why you only notice it sometimes. But I believe this is the rare case, and if you have a subwoofer problem, it will probably be completely blown and be obvious to you when you perform the +9 bass /moderate volume test.
