Default Re: Just got offered...

I was told dealers use wholesale auction prices to value cars now. Not sure if that was BS or not . I had a perfect GT Cruiser, real low miles, so clean you could eat off the bottom of it and they offered me less than my PT Cruiser I traded in, same miles/age, same condition to get the GT. I was told no one uses Kelly anymore, its useless. In our claims department they use something called "fair market value" to price a totaled vehicle. In other words they pull your zip code and maybe a few surrounding ones and find a "like and kind" vehicle and then price accordingly. They compensate for low miles, new tires, brakes etc. It used to be that a dealer would "screw you now, or screw you later on a car, now its seems they just screw you.
