I just decided to try this on my way home for lunch. Cruising 55 mph in 5th, pulled shifter to left and held it, shifted into 4th and then straight to 3rd. Same when it was in 4th, held shifter left, went to 3rd and then straight to 2nd.
Neat little trick I just learned.
