Clutch problem + horrible service
Hello all, really nice forum you guys have here!
I'm a new Crossfire owner but have been lurking around these forums for a while now. I have a 2004 6 speed coupe. I love the car, but the Chrysler service has been giving me a hard time. The car was made in june 03, so it still has the unlimited 7year/70k mile driveline warranty.
Right after I bought the car I wanted the oils to be changed (oil stick reads too high), the suspension checked for any loose components (a bit wobbly over bumbs) and just general preventative maintenance and engine tune-up (noisy lifters?). So I brought the car to Tomball Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep here in Houston, stated what I want to be done and left the car there at 8 am, with promises they would call me before midday to give me the status. Did not receive any calls, I called them at around 2pm and they did not know the status of the car and promised to call back later.
Figures, I had to call them back 10minutes before their closing time and demand what's going on with the car. After a few mins they called me back and said nothing was done to the car, the technician did not find any problems! No oil change, no suspension checking, nothing! Needless to say I went there, took the keys from the reception and drove off. Decided to try somewhere else.
Anyway, coming home in the middle of the night between 24th and 25th of december, the damn clucth broke. I stopped in the lights and when it was time to go, pressed the clutch and it felt too heavy and there was no way to put gears in. Maybe dirt in the hydraulic hoses or broken cylinders, I don't know. It feels like the clutch doesn't open. Well, there was this 24hour towing assistance number in the glove box, and it stated that cars with 7 years/70k mile driveline warranty have free towing. Tried calling them twice, spent like 40 min on the phone and did not get a person to answer. By this time phone battery was running low so called my insurance company and they got me towed back home.
Now the car is in Jim Archer Chrysler Jeep, we'll see how things go with them. What I'd like to know is the 24h towing stuff, anyone ever used that? Is it a valid service or what's the deal?
Here's hoping I can get the baby back on the road ASAP.
Thanks, just felt like I needed to vent this somewhere.
