Try running the car with the heater set to full on and the windows down so as not to melt. I reckon this reduces the temperature of the engine bay by moving the thermal energy into the car, and as a result the air going into the engine is cooler = more power.

Not sure about the drag from the open windows = slower.

I need to run some tests to see if it make a difference, and if it does, vent the hot air to the back of the car instead of into it.
