I was taught to set mirrors by leaning your head on the driving window and moving the mirror until you just see the left rear corner. When you sit then in the seat it covers the entire area to your left. Then gangsta lean to the right and do the same with the passenger mirror. Trust that if there is no car in the right mirror that there is no car there and you can safely merge-it is true and works. I've done this with all my cars and have never not seen a car to my right or left. But straight out the back while backing is really not fun. Anybody put a backing up camera in the XF? Mark
