When the car senses that the key is in the ignition, it will not allow the use of the keyless. It is a function of teh RFID chip embedded in the remote. When it no longer senses the RFID chip, it will allow you to lock and unlock via the remote. It has nothing to do with a physicla key being inserted into the tumbler rather is all detected via the ring around it.
