Default New Owner in South Jersey! (long post)

Hello everyone! I've been a car enthusiast for many years now owning previous cars including a 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi, 2004 Honda S2000, and more recently a 2008 Mazdaspeed3.

I just traded the Speed3 in for a 2005 Crossfire SRT-6 last saturday. I loved the Mazdaspeed3 however felt it's biggest short-coming was it's FWD configuration. It's got 280ft/lbs stock and it's very difficult to put that power down without violent wheel hop (made better with an upgraded tranny mount but not fixed). I didn't get very far with the Mazda only upgrades include a Cobb Short-Ram intake (which yeilded 20 whp!, upgraded engine mount, and Short-throw shifter with solid buschings. Cobb had engine management available but improvments were dismal compared to my Cobb Stage 2 STi.

Anyway I went and visited a local track (Atco) a few months ago for the first time in several years. One particular car caught my attention- a Graphite colored SRT-6 running LOW 12's. I was blown away. None of my STi brethren were able to hit those number without upgrading their turbo and/or going meth injection. Intrigued I decided to do some research and found that those numbers could be achieved with a much lower level of modification. Plus I found that the resale value on Crossfires plummeted in the last few years. A car that was once originally priced in the high 40's can now be purchased under 20k! What a bargain! I couldn't resist- thus taking delivery of a 2005 Saphire Blue SRT-6 last Saturday. It has 12,000 on the odo and I got it for 19 and some change!

So far I love the car. Blazing acceleration on the highway though I haven't really pushed it due to the decreased traction (summer tires in 30 degree temps are a dangerous mix) Thankfully this isn't my primary/daily-driver. It's got gobs more room than my S2000 and (of course) gobs more torque as well. The only thing I miss is manual transmission however I feel it's safer to buy an auto used than a manual- which is much easier to beat up (short of the previous owner doing neutral to drive drops- which hopefully was never done).

Anyway I'm looking to get in touch with the owner of that Grey SRT-6 I saw at Atco and maybe pick his brain about his mod choices. I saw a member here from S.Jersey that has an SRT-6 in the same color and thinking this may be him. I'm looking to possibly follow his lead in regards to his aftermarket path, as it obviously yields some pretty impressive #'s.

Additionally I'm looking forward to running a bunch of questions by the group as I am a new owner and I'm not usually big on buying used. For instance- here's one....when I open the rear hatch there are two light/reflectors on the bottom ledge of the hatch (the actual hatch door that houses the rear window and wing). These do not light up- should they? Or are they simply reflectors. ...I know I'm going to have a million more questions but for now I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to my new online car forum home.
