i hit a small one in my Wrangler, didn't have even that much damage. just a little hoof smudge maybe on the bumper.

if the options are hit the animal or something else, always hit the animal. insurance will look at it as a comp claim, where going off the road or into someone else will be an at-fault accident. the at-fault will do more damage to your rates then the comp claim will.
