Chris, my front tires wore out at just about the same mileage because they were out of alignment too.
But what was odd, was the info that I received from somebody here on the forum (who worked at a dealer) that did a check of my cars warranty history. It said that the dealer where I purchased my new car from had realigned the front wheels, and replaced a hose under warranty before I took possesion of my car.
So I guess they really didn't actually do the alignment, or they did a very poor job when they did.
I would definitely get a front end alignment done with new tires installed since the old ones wore out prematurely.
