Most failed because the cars sat 2 years on a dock somewhere between the US and Germany. If yours has not been idle then you should be good. It's precautionary and doesn't leave you stranded if it does go out. I changed my stock for basically the stock bosch pump. It still worked great, but my car did sit for 2 years and only had 212 miles when I got it. So was just in case so I didn't waste any trips to the track.
