Default Noise in dash, dash lights out, doors won't lock...

2006 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster... 2,000 miles
The other morning, I went out to go to work. Started the car to warm it up and defrost the windows. I turned the light switch on and the dash and console lights did not turn on. The outside lights are fine... I then noticed a humming/buzzing noise from behind the top left dash. I turned the switch off and the noise didn't stop. I turned the car off and the noise didn't stop. I turned the switch on and the outside lights are the only thing working... The clock display is messed up and there are two vertical black lines in the display next to the clock. I decided to go to work and check it later. I get to work and the fob doesn't work to lock the car. I get in the car and try the lock switch and the doors won't lock... Hmmmm... Noise is still there. I go in to the office and look out every once in a while to see if it is on fire yet... I go out at lunch and the noise is still there, car starts fine. I decided to take it in to the shop. They check it out and say the instrument cluster is at fault. It will be next week before they can get a part. That doesn't sound right... Seems like it would be some sort of control module... Anyone ever have something like this happen before?
