I think it's important to consider not only total sales, but how many have sold vs. how many have been produced. I think the data reflect sales in the U.S. If you track the sequential VIN numbers of Crossfires you will see that there have been well over 40K units produced. maybe closer to 50K. Roughly 25K 04s were built. Around 16K have been sold in the U.S. since June 03. Maybe 5K (probably fewer) were sold in other countries. The sales numbers include both 04s and 05s. Despite the cheap lease deals, pricing well under invoice, and rebates, Crossfires are being produced faster than they are being sold. I started a thread "Sales, Prices Falling" last week detailing my concern related to the oversupply. It either got deleted during the outage or was possibly "poofed" for some other reason. And no, I'm not bashing the Crossfire - I really enjoy mine. I just think that a car manufacturer owes it to their customers to try to strike some reasonable balance between supply and demand.
