Hey Jesda,

Don't let those ***-wipes get away with charging you a couple of hundred in diagnostic fees. Or at least, not right away. If they charge you, DEMAND a full receipt stipulating what they think is wrong with the car, IN DETAIL, and the amount of cost/hours/parts required to fix it. That's what you paid them for, right? Make sure there are PLENTY of line items that can't be misconstrued, all the way to that fantastic total of $7,000. Also have them state that this was done by a "certified SRT6" technician. Not by just the regular "trained" technician. I had (before they closed down) a great service manager at Sunnyvale Chrysler Jeep tell me about all the training that 2 of his guys had to go through for the Crossfire and SRT6. They are basically Mercedes Benz, of course.... Not just a Dodge, Chrysler, etc. Anyway....

Next, get it done RIGHT by someone reputable having them show the details and cost of the actual solution. If it doesn't match up with at least 70% of what the first dealership put into their estimate, demand all or part of your "diagnostic" money back, since they were, WRONG, and more importantly, MISLEADING you. If they refuse, threaten to take them to the BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repairs). Play "chicken" with them, and win........ Next time they say "We diagnosed it, and you don't believe us?"..... To which you say, "Well, no, I don't believe you.... Why should I?" Service managers have a bottom line to reach or they get canned. Dishonest ones will do what they can to hit that bottom line if it takes lying, swapping good parts out, increasing labor costs, padding bills, etc. Good service managers rely on repeat business for a fair price.
