I wish I had to money to invest in buying a CD changer and hooking all of this up, myself.

I found this and a great number of other threads in the MB, Porsche and BMW forums that led me to the same solution as MMZ_TimeLord.
But in doing the math, I came to the conclusion that for me it was not the cheapest or in the end most satisfactory solution.
Without wishing to take anything away from MMZ_TimeLord, for me it would have meant getting the NAV unit (at a cost of about what I paid for my aftermarket head unit), the CD-Changer (for about the cost of what I paid for my iPod interface, XM Radio component, HD Radio component, USB component, powered sub, and extra speakers. I already had a killer hand-held GPS so the NAV capabilities didn't offer anything.
In the end it may be possible but from a cost standpoint, and from a feature and benefit standpoint, for me, not already having the NAV unit, it was a no-brainer.
I did try the Drive + Play. And it is a decent unit - but with a head unit that HAS an AUX input. It's now in my other vehicle where it puts iPod through my stereo and charges my iPod, and enables me to share the AUX with my cheapy little XM radio. And the display and controls keeps me out of trouble with operating it while moving.
There's lots of ways to skin a cat - MMZ_TimeLord found a way to get the iPod through the NAV unit. Would love to see the wiring diagram.
