There are also quite a few 8's out there running close to 1000hp that are fine tuning before tracks open again... I bet they'll hit 9's easy this season.... I can think of 3 vehicles off the top of my head that should be really close right now.
This is one of them... RDP's 440ci with a whipple (3.4L each, i think) for each ummm...lol...ummm bank side. ;x
