Talking Re: Let the hood mods begin...

MOPAR - or - BUST for real.
I was Looking again and seeing for the first time........

I have run across the stud failures ---bolts damnnit-- That is stretch failure, not torque thou related. THe bolts had an initial torque of X.X which is all fine, but if it is in a different rate of expansion material, the bolt is internally stretched till it shears in two.

At issue I had several harlan sharp roller rockers experience push rod bolt failures. The heavy bolt was screwed into aluminum rocker with a jab nut. THe expansion of the aluminum stretched the 3/8" bolt causing it and others to split. To limit the stretch the bolts tension must be limited to minimize the prestretch. Mixing different metals often has stress - warpage problems due to disimilar rates of expansion and contraction.

I would suggest loosening all the bolts, adding some Moly lube and retightning them to No more than minimum ( low range ) on the bolts capacity.

Just a bit from my own experiences, car over heated once and pow every thing started coming loose like on twilight zone........stretched out.
