im no expert, in fact i just joined but a friend of mine on this forum has an srt6. hopefully amx1397 will chime in on this one but i remember him telling me about an experience he had that sounded almost like yours just minus the burning plastic smell. His heat exchanger pump went bad, apparently it happens when the car sits for a while. The guys at his dealer thought it was the tranny as well but if the heat exchanger pump goes bad the car will bog down and needs to cool before it will perform again. Like i said im no expert "yet" but ide check out that pump.
