Calxfire - Thanks this clears things up a bit. Since I am installing the new pump, I think I am going to go the external 12volt source to run the pump with the hose clamp on while watching the resevoir until no more bubbles. Now I just have to make sure I clamp the right hose.

I am a little confused by the diagrams and Woody's extra hose. Where is it plumbed to and if you can just purge it through the resevoir why the clear hose contraption? It looks like the E55 has an actual nipple on a seperate line to perform this task, but I think there is an entirely different coolant tank system on that engine if I am not mistaken.
