Default Noise/clunk from steering.

I've had a noise from my steering for a few months and thought it was coming from the steering box and wasn't looking forward to a big bill for repairs as it's expensive to replace.
It was at low speed when turning the steering you could hear and feel a clunk at the steering wheel.
Anyway I thought I would have a proper look at it the other day.
I jacked the car right up at both sides to get under the car and just tightened all the bolts up.
i.e. The clamp that goes onto the splines coming out of the steering box and also the bolts that fix the steering box to the car.
I also removed one end of the steering damper to check that but it was fine.
I am happy to report that the noise/clunk has gone and I am much happier as I couldn't believe that the steering was knackered after only 18,000 miles.

So if any of you have problems with a steering noise I would suggest just checking to make sure all the clamps, bolts etc are secure and by the way I never got much on them but obviously just enough.

Norrie.
