I originally thought the windscreen was a stock item on the Crossfire, so I needed pics of the area to help determine how difficult getting to the windscreen edge would be. Now that I know the piece is completely aftermarket, that's no longer an issue.

Because the screen edge is completely exposed, it will be up to the installer to determine optimum placement of the LEDs. My suggestion would be along the bottom edge. The only issue to take care of at that point would be running the necessary wires and enclosing the LEDs to prevent them from getting knocked around.

Normally I would suggest my original "prototype" style controller, but I'm thinking the electronics from my Brakelight Tube (sans the actual tube) would be better suited. The PCB measures less than 1.6" x 0.6", is only 0.25" thick, and could easily be hidden along the bottom of the screen.
