Re: Check Your Engine for Oil Leak
I had the same oil leak at about 1500 miles new. There's two places to seal on our valve covers. When removing the cover theres the standard fiber type gasket that sets between the head & the cover itself. Replaced without RTV. Only set in place & cover retorqued. However on top of our valve cover is a vent type system which is a favorite leak area too, but this requires only RTV, usually blk., to seal this flange only. Not a hard job at all. I let the dealer repiar both under warranty. Brand new gasket shows at base of cover & semi-neat application of RTV shows on top valve cover under the vent plate area. This repair is about 1 yr. old & there isn't as much as a sweat leak yet. I understand this is usually a one time fix just like the usual auto. trans o ring leak that is much talked about here on the Forum. Hope yours holds!!
