Default Re: Converting '04 limited to SRT-6

I have to disagree with some of that above. You would need the SRT ECU complete engine wiring harness and the engine. The stock suspension and brakes are fine. The transmission is fine as well. I am doing basically the same thing but with a V8 from a CL500. Id addtion to the the motor, harness and computer. the only parts I needed were exhuast manifolds from a C43 AMG engine, very slim dual electric fans. I was able to buy all this for for less than the cost of a SRT6/AMG32 engine.

You have to have the ECU unlocked becuase it stores data such as from the key, and VIN number. If you don't unlock and then re-associate the ECU to your car and try to start it, the anti-theft system will activate and you will never get it started.

I personally feel the best swap for a n/a crossfire is a V8. any of the three valve V8's such as 430, 43AMG, 500, 55AMG from 98' on will bolt right in. Depending on engine you will have a little more or a little less HP than the SRT but you will have more torque. then you can add another 150HP with an HPS supercharger and go vette hunting.

If you do the SRT swap, do it for love of the car but don't expect it to ever fetch SRT6 money. On the other hand there are only two V8 crossfires in the world right now and the last sale of one was for 77,000 euros.

I know my swap can be done since there are already two of them terrorizing the roads of Europe. Startech won't tell me how they worked out the computer, but after a ton of research, I have figured it out. IF you decide to go V8 and mine works, I may consider doing the swap for you if you bring all the parts and your car to Dallas.
