That's basically how it went, I could not win so I shut up. I was in my thirties at the time, twenty years earlier I would have ended up giving him some lip and it would have rapidly gone down hill from there.
I got a written warning two years ago for going through a stop sign, the road was a sheet of ice. The officer was going to give me ticket until he realized that the road was slippery when I showed him others were having the same problem.
I did not like his attitude so I went to his HQ's and complained, I told them he was not ever going to make detective, the desk sergeant asked why, I said the officer lacked observational skills having missed the icy conditions, I left them laughing among themselves and I had got it off my chest.
