Potholes? We got em. Hammered one yesterday so hard I bit my tongue. There had obviously been some road work where they had to cut out a section of concrete. The sucker was 8 feet wide, 4 feet long and six inches deep. All the edges were right angles as cut by a concrete saw. Thought sure I was going to be buying rims and tires. The b_stard is filled in this morning. Now it is just lumpy but not a killer. They (my tax dollars at work) knew that they created this monster. A little warning would have been nice. Closing the darn lane would have been nicer. Don't know who the road commissioner for Mt. Prospect is but I wouldn't mind getting a shot a him with a creme pie.
HAHAHA... We had one of those where I live, but I wasn't cause anyone cut anything out of the road. It WAS, and this is no bullshit people, THE BIGGEST POTHOLE I have ever seen. About the size that you were describing; this however was probably about 2-3 feet deep. If anyone, even a large truck, went into that, they weren't coming out.
Chicago, this winter, was filled with these things. I was afraid to drive.
