I am afraid the ipod will drain the battery because it is constantly charging even when the car is off. I heard some factory radios will keep charging the ipod up to 20 minutes after the car turns off... but I don't know if that is the case with the Blaupunkt.
I turned my equalizer off on the radio and some of the hiss went away. I also made an adjustment to the ipod equalizer. If I played around with it more I probably could have adjusted it better. The hiss is really only there above volume level 41. The higher it goes, the louder the hiss. And you only really hear it between songs when it is quiet. 41 is pretty loud and I hardly put it up that high anyway. If the hiss bothers you, the best thing to do is probably use the front Aux jack and raise the volume on the ipod. The audio sounds great though.... I guess a little hiss with the radio blasting is better than using FM modulators and transmitters.
