A few times the last month or two it's been real hard to turn the key in the ignition. Last night I thought I was going to be stranded, it took 10 min trying before the key turned. Got it to South Point this AM. Just as I thought, needs a new switch. New switch has to be coded to keys and Vin#. Will take a week to get it from Germany. Part=$246.33, labor $250.00. So, car's home, we'll take it for drives and won't turn it off till we're back home. Hope it will have one more "start" left in it when the part gets here.
We've been looking forward to this, hope there will be another GTG soon.

Bummer......

I hear that this has happened on several other cars. Sometimes, when I get in the vehicle and try to turn the key, the key is difficult to turn. The steering wheel lock has pressure against the key cylinder locking mechanism and if I slightly move the steering wheel one way or the other (and hold it) it will relieve the pressure and allow the key to operate smoothly. From those of us that are the second owners, we don't know if the PO was aware of this or not. Just my thoughts...that not relieving the pressure and just turning the key... could be what is causing this failure.
