I live up here in Denver, CO, which is a smidge above 5200 feet.
As you know, with every 1k ft in elevation increase, there is a ~4% decrease in power output. So at 5k feet, I've lost 20%, and when I go up into the 11k ft region, which I do for all the really fun roads, I'm now down 44% compared to sea level.
So how much of an increase if the 74mm TB in comparison to the stock unit?
I don't notice where you mentioned what the size is, and I don't remember reading it anywhere in the site.
How much of an increase is there in air flow between stock and 74mm?
How much of a difference would you believe that there would be in the performance of a Crossfire up in my region between stock, and 74mm TB, at the different altitude levels I've mentioned?
Right now, I'm sure that this car is backing off on the fuel mixture due to the thinner air.
I'm wondering if the larger TB might get the performance back to what sea level should be here at 5200 ft.
Thanks,
BC.
Stock TB is 68mm, so you are seeing a 6mm increase. This will not compensate for your elevation, but it will make it faster then it is now. To gain 20% in HP I would suggest our TVT265 kit. This will provide a tune and injectors to help with the higher altitude. You can then add our TB for added performance from there.
