Re: Texas Mile 2008 March 28-30th
H.K. ran his best time today @ 163.5 MPH.
I ran my best time of 169.3 (last two runs) on Friday when it was 90*+ out on Friday with a strong crosswind - I think someone said the DA was 3,500 ft. + - - It was Hot, Humid and Windy.
This morning it was 50* with a nice tail wind - I was hoping to hit 173 MPH but I did a throttle reset first thing - boy was that huge mistake. My first run was 160.X MPH in the cool air and nice tailwind. Every run after that I gained about 1.5 - 2.0 MPH and my last was 167.X
It will be cool again Sunday so I hope to make 175 MPH before the last day is over.
To give it some perspective - The hottest Shelby Mustangs were running around 20x - 21x MPH and most of the Vettes were running around 18x MPH. (Street legal cars)
My car shocked a lot of people who would watch it run and then go to the offical's booth were the times are posted and look up my car number and check all my times - then come out and talk to me at the staging lane.... It was pretty cool. "Are all Crossfires like that?"
I'm very comfortable in the car at these speeds and I'm taking some good notes - Speed at the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 mile marks. When the tranny shifts into 5th, and what RPM I'm at the mile mark (I can actually keep on it a bit past the mile mark and still slow down before the turn out - but it was a bit to handle Friday with that 25 MPH crosswind.
BTW - no lean or bogging issues in the colder weather with the 185mm pulley running WOT for one mile.
I'll post more latter when I'm not on this pop-up infested lobby computer. - HK says they got some real good High Res pictures of all our cars (mine from the good side).
More racing tomorrow!!
