I disagree.

Do not attempt to use synthetic engine oil of any variety. The shifting will get worse, guaranteed (ask me how I know!)

If you choose to use something other than an actual MB MTF fluid, then use the Acura MTF I mentioned.

Gear oil and engine oil have completely different shear viscosity and additives, heck they even smell completely different. Very, very different stuff.
