It was getting the connector off the top of the accelerator pedal. Difficult to get your hand there, the trick for me suggested by Steve-Uk was to push the flexible plastic above the pedal up out of the way. I could then get to the connector. You have to squeeze both sides of the connector and pull up. If you get a sprint booster you can see what the connector looks like and then have an idea what you are feeling with your hand. I was just being lazy and trying to avoid removing the pedal.
