Question Gas Mileage - Auto vs Manual

Hey guys, so I'm thinking of getting a crossfire, and I was wondering about the gas mileage difference between the automatic and manual crossfires. For some reason, fueleconomy.gov rates the manual worse than the auto. That's not right, is it? I'm wondering because I make a lot of trips out to see my parents (about 200 miles each way, and I travel it about once or twice a month), and I really need a car with about 30 mpg. I tend to travel at about 80 mph on the highway. What kind of speed is the 6th gear on the manual set for? Does it run well at 80 mph, and is it revving very much? I'm looking for as fuel efficient as possible, and I don't mind the engine running really low, even lugging it. Also, what fuel grade are you guys using? Does the crossfire handle 87 or 89 octane well, or does it actually need 91 or 93 like the manual states. Just some questions, I've got my eye on a black on black 04 coupe, 6 speed with about 40k miles for $9,999. I think she's a beauty, so if this car gets reasonably good mpg, I might drive out and take a look. Thanks for your help guys!
