In four years of (summer) driving I consistently get 27-28 mpg calculated on midrange gas. That's a lot of highway at 70-75 with occasional bursts to much higher. One afternoon I took a back highway cruise at 55-65 and turned just over 30.
All I can tell you, it's worth giving up 1 mpg to have the fun of a stick.
hands down i think the auto would be not fun and feel very slow due. the manual take some time to get use to but i have more fun driving my car then some of the other cars that are auto but faster. i understand the auto is better in the 1/4 mile but how many miles are you putting on your car on the track versus every day driving i would rather be a slight bit slower in the 1/4 but enjoy shifting gears.
